ABI Sign Up and Input Form

The African Bioinformatics Institute (ABI) has been established to lead and coordinate the field of bioinformatics across Africa. The institute aims to create a robust network of computational biologists and data scientists throughout the continent. With a vision to advance bioinformatics, the ABI seeks to build the necessary infrastructure for managing and analysing life science data, enhance education and training, and promote collaborative research and innovation across various sectors.

SECTION 4: COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE

The ABI can facilitate the interaction of scientists with common research interests related to the field of Bioinformatics. We plan to set up Communities of Practice (CoP) where bioinformaticians in the ABI can interact with domain experts who have an interest in or need for bioinformatics. Examples could include a CoP in specific research or application areas, e.g. "Genomic Medicine", "Agriculture", "Malaria", or a CoP can be based around a technology, e.g. "Proteomics" or "AI methods for life sciences". We would like to know if you have an interest in creating (helping to set it up, define its activities and possibly lead it) or being part of a CoP. It may not be feasible to immediately set up all proposed CoPs, but we can start with those for which there is a lot of interest.
